Well although I do have the min scout to level 5 I never used the proto version so I won't speak to that respect. I do know 2 corp members and they use that suit to hack and boy are they good at it. We have won many a battle because they just run around and hack while the rest of the squad defends. Pretty much they prefer the hacking modules.
I on the other hand use my minmatar as a troop mobilizer. Thus I always carry links in my suits. I have two setups but the one I use the most is as follows with a small description saying why. This is for the advance M/1
On the highs.
-2 shield extenders for protection.
-1 profile enhancer because I need to see the enemy.
On the lows
-1 profile dampener because I need to be able to sneak in and out. Note that 1 is not enough many a times but, it is good enough for 85% of the time.
-1 kinkat. I want to be able to get there fast and also get out of there fast. Note that my corp mates skip the kinkat and prefer a decoder.
Weapons
- rs-90 combat rifle because it uses the least resources. Use what ever works for you.
-advance nova knife. Dude, minmatar has 5% nova knife bonus per level. You have to have knifes for this guy.
equipment
-I forgot which links I carry but I can put two of them at a time.
-basic cloak because resources are very tight.
Thats it. I think the most important piece of advice is that the min scout is an opportunist. He runs in kills 1 guy at most, hacks and runs away. He is not there to duke it out but, he will pick his target if they are not looking. What I do is that when I'm approaching a target as in an objective, clone station or what not, I leave a link nearby but, out of the way. I then go for the hack. If I die then the link is there so i can try again. Its either that or I run around placing links where i think troops should be moved. Like for example if my clones are trapped on one side of the bridge map, i will run around the mountains and place a link on the other side. Then the clones have a way out. If I see an area needs to be attacked or needs reinforcement then I place links to coerce people to move in. I'm not there to kill. I'm there to change the battle. Ofcourse, if the enemy is not looking they will get shot or stabbed.
